Worshipping God

November 13, 2006

I’m a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.  We have such a wonderful church.  Between the music and the preaching, I don’t know how it could get any better.  But just when you think it couldn’t get any better, God keeps showing us glimpses of heaven.

After church, I went on my daily hour walk.  (I need to lose some weight.)  I usually listen to Casting Crowns on my iPod.  Today, I chose to listen to Michael W Smith.  Wow!  His music put me in such a worshipful mood.  I took my camera with me.  The two pictures on Flickr (see right hand of my blog) are pictures I took today when I was walking.  What a beautiful world God has given us!  Even though the leaves are almost gone, I found these two trees.

During the morning service this morning, we celebrated Veterans Day.  We had members who served in the military (even a 10th grade young lady who participates in ROTC) come forward.  We had a group of men to present the American flag, the Christian flag and the Bible.  We even had one of our members, who is serving in Iraq, lead the congregation in the Pledge of Allegiance.

I’m thankful for:

  • God for sending His son to die on a cross for a sinner like me (and you).
  • My salvation.
  • My husband and children.
  • My church.
  • The United States of America.
  • For all the men and women who are serving and who served in the past.

Thank you, God, for everything you have given us!

Knitting

November 9, 2006

I love to knit.  The problem is I knit too tight.  I like to throw my yarn with my right hand.

I’ve decided that I will start a felting project today sometime and I will make myself knit entirely in the Continental style.  Maybe I can learn to not be so tight…..

First Post

Well, I guess I want to be like so many people.  I’ve got to have a blog.  Even my kids have blogs.  Why can’t I?

I guess you’d like to know a little about me.  I’m a 40-ish married,  mother-of-two, full-time employee outside of the home.  I’ve been married to the most wonderful man in the world for 23.5 years.  We have the two greatest kids in the world.  We have a 14 yo daughter and a 12 yo son.

Right now, we are living with my MIL.  Don’t even think of MIL jokes.  I’m very fortunate.  I love my MIL.  We have always been close.  We have looked at a couple of houses.  We are in a waiting mode.  We are waiting for my father’s estate to close and his house to sell.  I know God has something for us, so we aren’t rushing into any thing.

Yes, we are waiting for my father’s estate to close.  He went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2005, almost a year ago.  He had a stroke and lived 5 days.  He had a living will and chose not to be kept alive by artificial means.  If you know you don’t want to be kept alive by artificial means, get a living will.  We didn’t have to go around the world and try to decide what Daddy wanted.  He told us.  He was a lovely man and I miss him so much.

BTW, I’ve heard on the news that CBS reporter Ed Bradley has died of leukemia.  My prayers go out to his family.

Until next time….
